Linkage Level Descriptions

Initial Precursor

When given a group of objects to choose from, the student can find the object needed to complete a familiar routine.

Distal Precursor

The student can identify concrete details, such as characters, objects, setting, and major events, that are stated explicitly in a narrative text.

Proximal Precursor

The student can recognize that implicit information is not directly stated in a text and can answer questions about characters, objects, setting, and events that require them to identify and understand implicit information.

Target

When reading a story, the student can identify textual evidence that supports implied information.

Successor

The student can recognize that textual evidence can be used to support explicit and inferred information and can distinguish between citations of textual evidence which refer to either explicit or implicit information.
